Preface

Bangladesh has a good diversity of butterflies, which found in the different forest habitats such as mixed evergreen forests (Hill forests), deciduous forest (Sal forests), mangrove forest (Sundarban) and scattered homestead forests. This diversity of butterflies is an essential part of the forest ecosystem. Most of them are good pollinators and indicators of environmental changes. It has also aesthetic and economic value. 

About the site: This site is created for the conservation and presentation of the amazing creatures among the people. Anyone may find here information about the natural histories such as adult stages, early stages, interesting behaviour, larval and nectar, host plants of butterflies recorded in Bangladesh. 

Scientific Names: Scientific names followed as "A Synoptic Catalogue of the Butterflies of India" and "Butterflies of Bangladesh: an annotated checklist" books. 

Species Identification: Genus, species and subspecies were identified on the basis of morphological characters of photographs specimens. On the other hand, www.ifoundbutterflies.org, http://yutaka.it-n.jp/index.html, http://ftp.funet.fi/index/Tree_of_life/intro.html, www.flutters.org and http://butterflycircle.blogspot.com websites are used for identification help.
